Are Arabica beans good for espresso?

Arabica coffee beans are the best coffee beans for espresso. These beans roast to a dark with a slightly medium shade giving a dry yet slightly oily bean which is perfect for brewing espresso in home espresso machines.

You need dark roasts that are finely ground with high pressure to make a perfect espresso shot.

You can use any coffee for your espresso machine, but coffee professionals would always recommend dark roast. Dark roast gives consistency and taste to your espresso. If you like light coffee, go for a light roast but make sure they are ground finely.

Medium or light roast won’t taste as strong as dark or espresso roast, but it will do the job if you are in a bind!

Can you use instant coffee for espresso?

a shot of espresso next to coffee beans

Yes, for sure, instant coffee can be used for espresso. It will bring the chocolatey and rich flavors out of the coffee.

However, it will not give the exact authenticity and flavor as espresso because instant coffee is less favorable compared to a strong shot of espresso

You can say instant coffee is used as a shortcut to making espresso at home.

Instant coffee may or may not suit the espresso shot but instant coffee can be used as an alternative to espresso powder for baking.

Instant coffee is already brewed coffee, while espresso powder is made of dark roasted beans that are also brewed and then dried for later use. The main difference is that espresso is more concentrated than instant coffee; a teaspoon will do the job.

What roast is best for espresso?

Medium or dark roasts are best for espresso.

Any espresso blend or beans can make the espresso shot. However, the dark roast has oil consistency, which creates a more flattering look and taste. The dark black color came from heating the beans at the highest range of more than 100°F.

These beans give your espresso shot a smoky, full-bodied standard taste.

The Bottom Line

You see, there are no rules when it comes to brewing your cup of joy. It’s your cup, so you are free to experiment with different coffees or roast, and then decide which you like better.

Most importantly, grind your own coffee at home or coffee shop. Because both espresso powder and instant coffee won’t fit best with your daily espressos shot. Buy your dark coffee roast or beans, finely grind them at home or the shop and then brew yourself a good shot of espresso.
